Robert Mikoláš - Coronavirus Crisis Divorce

We are happy to present our online literature project Stories in times of corona. In the past few weeks, we approached few prominent Czech authors and asked them to write exclusively for us a short story inspired by the current pandemic situation. As the second story from the series we pesent you "Coronavirus Crisis Divorce" by Robert Mikoláš.

(*1966 in Prague)

Journalist, diplomat, currently director of the Czech Centre Tel Aviv and the Czech House Jerusalem.

Robert Mikoláš studied Czech and world literature and history at the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. Besides of that, he attended studies at the Goethe Institute in Munich and at the Taipei University. Furthermore he participated in educational programs for journalists in NATO headquarters in the USA.

In the past he worked as a librarian in the Strahov Library - The Royal Canonry of Premonstratensians at Strahov in Prague or as lecturer at the Prague School of Photography and at the College of International and Public Relations Prague. Between 1998 and 2018 Robert Mikoláš worked as foreign correspondent for the Czech Radio.

For his work he received several awards. In 2006 and 2013„Znojemský hrozen award, in 2011 the PRIX Bohemia Radio award. Additionally he was also nominated two times for the „Journalist of the year award“.

His articles were published in Czech and also foreign newspapers and magazines like Respekt, Reflex, Týden, Lidové noviny, Hospodářské noviny, Deník SME, Koktejl and more.
