The exhibition will be open at the Jerusalem Biblical ZOO on June 6, 2012 at 10a.m. at the presence of the Mayor of Prague, Mr. Bohuslav Svoboda.
Visitors will have a chance to see the exhibits until the end of September 2012.
In the mountains of Europe we can hardly find a more majestic bird
of prey than the Bearded Vulture. Its wingspan of almost three meters
arouses respect and esteem. In spite of that in some places the
Bearded Vulture appeared to have crossed beyond the edge of extinction
with no escape. The last vulture in the German Alps was shot in
1855, in the Alpine region it has been extinct since the beginning of
20th century. However, after many decades thanks to successful breeding
Bearded Vultures could return to the Alps. The international project
on reintroduction of Bearded Vultures was launched in 1978 and the
first four birds raised in captivity ascended to Alpine heights in 1986.
