The Israel Chamber Orchestra– Viktor Ullmann's Emperor of Atlantis. Very special concerts in honor of Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day

Viktor Ullmann, a Silesia-born composer conductor and pianist (born in Těšín), served as a conductor at the New German Theatre of Prague, a head  of the opera company in Aussig an der Elbe (Ústí nad Labem) or as a conductor in Zürich. He worked with the department of music at Czechoslovak Radio, as well, he wrote as a critic for the Bohemia newspaper.  On 8 September 1942 he was deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp, where he completed the chamber opera The Emperor of Atlantis, or The Refusal of Death, with a libretto by Peter Kien. Viktor Ullmann was murdered by Nazi in Auschwitz-Birkenau two years later.

The Israel Chamber Orchestra is an Israeli orchestra founded in 1965 and based in Tel Aviv-Jaffa.
